PESHAWAR, March 27: A modern bus stand with multiple facilities under one roof and disciplined traffic system will be built here at the site of the existing bus stand on GT Road.
NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah was briefed on the project, and proposed designs from three reputed firms were explained at the Governor House on Tuesday night.
Provincial Minister Abbas Sarfraz Khan, Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Peshawar City Nazim Azam Afridi and other-high ranking officials were also present on the occasion.
Having scrutinized the three different designs, the governor asked the respective firms to make necessary changes in their proposals. Every effort should be made to provide facilities to commuters and passengers in waiting, he said and added: “The practical problem of the passengers should be kept in mind while designing the project”, he added.
Mr Shah directed the director-general CMDD to collect planning data and count figures to properly ascertain the volume of incoming and outgoing traffic at the bus stand, and to estimate possible increase in it for the next, at least, 20 years so that the future requirements should also be catered properly.
Transporters should also be involved in the process, the governor said.
