PESHAWAR, March 27: NWFP Governor has directed the law enforcing agencies to come out with a concrete plan of action for eliminating the hideouts of kidnappers and car lifters in the province, once for all.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Governor House here on Wednesday to review the law and order situation in the NWFP, he took serious note of the kidnapping as well as car lifting cases occurring in certain parts of the province for the last few weeks.

He asked the agencies to take the situation as a challenge and launch action under a plan.

Protection of life, honour and property of the people was the responsibility of the law enforcing agencies, and they must come up to the expectations of the masses and government, he said.

He appreciated the role of the law enforcing agencies in the maintenance of peace, especially on Ashura.  

The governor urged the agencies to be more vigilant, and directed them to constantly monitor the activities of the proclaimed offenders to arrest them.

The meeting also discussed the progress on repatriation of the Afghan refugees to their homeland from the NWFP, and noted with concern that the ratio of their fresh influx through unfrequented routs was much more than that of the repatriated ones during the last few months.
