Woman defends marriage in court

HYDERABAD, Nov 17: City police got a young girl medically examined in the Hyderabad Civil Hospital for determination of her age after she told the court that she had married of her own free will and was not abducted as alleged by her mother in an FIR lodged against her husband, Abbas Baloch.

Samreen Rajput, daughter of Rehana Rajput, was produced before the civil judge and judicial magistrate on Friday and said that she had married Abbas Baloch of her own free will. She said that she wanted to live in Darul Aman till her husband is released by police in the FIR. The court had remanded her custody to Darul Aman for three days while her husband was given in police custody for one day.

The magistrate also ordered medical examination of the girl after her mother said that she is under-age and her age should be determined.

The FIR of Rehana Rajput was lodged only after sessions judge ordered its registration on November 12. She stated in her FIR that on October 18 she was going along with Samreen near Resham Gali when Abbas Baloch and two other unidentified persons abducted her. The girl married Abbas Baloch on November 3.
