KARACHI, Nov 13: Central Executive Committee members and the Karachi Coordination Committee of Pakistan People’s Party have announced a three-day protest starting on Wednesday across the province against keeping the party’s chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto under house arrest in Lahore to foil its planned “long march”.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting chaired by PPP Sindh President Syed Qaim Ali Shah here on Tuesday. It condemned the moves to sabotage the march and the ongoing crackdown on PPP workers.

Leader of the Opposition in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani and many other leaders, including Syed Kurasheed Ahmed Shah, Nawab Yousaf Talpur, Dr Fehmida Mirza, Nafees Siddiqui, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Rashid Rabbani, Rafiq Engineer and Waqar Mehdi, attended the meeting.

They condemned the government for keeping PPP chairperson under house arrest, and demanded an immediately lifting of the siege of Latif Kohsa’s residence where she has been staying in Lahore.
