KARACHI, Nov 10: Discarded Test fast bowler Mohammad Sami claimed a career-best eight for 39 to lead Karachi Whites to an emphatic 209-run victory over Sialkot in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship match at the UBL Sports Complex here on Saturday.
The Karachi Whites skipper, who improved his previous best figures in first-class cricket (8-64 for Kent against Nottinghamshire in the English County Championship fixture at Maidstone in 2003), sent a strong reminder to the national selectors who are in the process of finalizing the Pakistan squad for the forthcoming Test series in India.Hopelessly placed at 9-3 at the start of the fourth and final day, Sialkot were sent packing for 142 in their second innings.
Sohail Khan, the 23-year-old Malakand-born pace bowler, continued his outstanding form in the current season by taking a match haul of nine for 158 to help SSGC defeat Hyderabad by nine wickets.
Sohail, who made his first-class debut at the start of the championship, has picked up a remarkable 25 wickets in just three matches.
Another speedster to shine on Saturday was Imran Ali who captured a career-best six for 41 as SNGPL beat Rawalpindi by 94 runs at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.
The day’s other winners were National Bank who outclassed Multan by an innings and 53 runs at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Okara.
The remaining three matches were all drawn.
