ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: A two-day international poultry congress concluded here on Saturday with a call for introduction of innovations to develop the poultry business on scientific lines.

A large number of people, including poultry experts from various countries, women and farmers attended the conference. General secretary of Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), Dr Bashir Mehmood Bhatti was also present on the occasion.

An exhibition was also held on the occasion, where various stalls by local and international companies displaying a variety of poultry feeds, new technologies for setting up poultry farms, medicines and vaccinations and other stuff, were displayed. These stalls were a special attraction to a large number of visitors.

Two technical sessions were also held in which experts discussed issues being faced by the regional poultry industry and how the region could improve its share in the world poultry business.

They highlighted the problems being faced by the farmers regarding poultry production, health, nutrition, marketing and hatchery operations and stressed the need for them to adopt new technologies both to increase their profits and produce healthier chickens to meet country’s poultry needs.

Cooking competitions were also held and the winners were awarded prizes and certificates while shields were given to farmers. The recommendations of the congress would be forwarded to the government for approval and implementation.
