KARACHI, Nov 8: Top seed Vinod Das on Thursday became the first player to storm into the men’s singles final when he disposed of M. Naseem 6-4, 6-3 in the 17th Talent Hunt Sindh ranking tennis championship at the CDGK Sports Complex.

He is slated to meet the winner of Robin Das/Jahangir Rasheed for the crown on Saturday at 3.00pm.

Robin and Jahangir made it to the last four ending the pretensions of their opponents.

The former beat Rana Azmatullah 6-0, 6-1 while the latter chalked up 6-4, 6-3 victory over Asadullah in the two quarter-finals.

Mustafa Zaidi ended the winning run of top seed Abdul Rehman by overcoming in three sets to reach the juniors U-17 singles final.

Zaidi, who inflicted 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jahangir Rasheed in quarter-final, was home 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.

Two young lads, Khwaja Hamza and Talha Zubair, will fight for honours in the boys U-11 singles on Friday.

Meanwhile, the organisers have extended the event by two days which will now conclude on Saturday.

Girls U-17 singles (round robin) Uzma Zakaria bt Maheen Dada 8-3.

Boys U-13 singles (quarter-finals) Adil Kohari bt Talha Zubair 6-4, 6-4; Nameer Shamsi bt Noorur Rehman 6-0, 6-0.

Juniors U-17 singles (quarter-final) Mustafa Zaidi bt Jahangir Rasheed 6-2, 6-2; (semi-finals) Mustafa Zaidi bt Abdul Rehman 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
