PESHAWAR, Nov 7: Component parties of the All Parties Democratic Movement would hold protest demonstrations on Friday at the divisional, district and tehsil levels to show their resentment over proclamation of state of emergency in the country by Gen Pervez Musharraf.

This was stated in a press release by the All Parties Democratic Movement’s provincial convener Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday.

He said that leaders of the movement at the divisional, district and tehsil levels had been issued directives with regard to the Nov 9 protest campaign against the military dictator.

He said that All Parties Democratic Movement workers would hoist black flags and hold banners inscribed with slogans against the proclamation of emergency in the country.

He said that the people could not be intimidated through baton charges and they would continue their struggle for the restoration of democracy, rule of law and respect of the judiciary.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who is also provincial general secretary of the ANP, condemned arrest of political leaders by the police on Tuesday and demanded their immediate release.

He also condemned house arrest of ANP’s chief Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan and chairman of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mahmud Khan Achakzai and demanded their release.
