Army jeep blown up

NOWSHERA, Nov 5: An army jeep was destroyed and an officer injured in an explosion here on Cherat Road on Monday. Officials and witnesses said Maj Ayaz suffered minor injuries when the jeep going from Cherat cantonment to Nowshera was blown up with a remote-controlled device planted on the road near Daag Ismailkhel.

He was discharged from hospital after first aid. A lieutenant-colonel was also in the vehicle.

Army personnel cordoned off the site and launched search for the attackers.

Nowshera District Police Officer Mubarik Zeb told journalists that security had been beefed up in the area after the explosion which occurred at around 8.15am.
