Hamza upsets British Open champion

PESHAWAR, Nov 2: Hamza Bokhari of Punjab upset current British Open Junior Champion Nasir Iqbal in the under-15 semi-final of the Chief of the Air Staff Junior squash championship at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex here on Friday.

Hamza took no time to overcome his strong rival Nasir 9-3, 9-3, 9-7 in just 41 minutes.

In the other U-15 semi-final, Haroon Rasheed defeated Niamatullah Senior 9-2, 9-5, 9-1.

Results (semi-finals):

U-19: Shoaib bt Mohammad Naeem 9-1, 9-4, 9-6; Waqar Mehboob bt Alamzeb 9-6, 9-2, 9-4.

U-17: Farhan Zaman bt Nosherwan 9-4, 9-3, 9-2; Sheikh Saqib bt Waqas Mehboob 8-10, 8-10, 9-3, 9-5, 9-1.

U-15: Hamza Bokhari bt Nasir Iqbal 9-3, 9-3, 9-7; Haroon Rasheed Niamatullah Senior 9-2, 9-5, 9-1.

U-13: Bilal Zakir bt Arsalan Bhatti 9-7, 9-2, 9-4; Ali Bokari bt Amad 3-9, 9-2, 7-9, 9-6, 10-8.

U-11: Shoaib Safdar bt Hamza 9-2, 9-4, 3-9, 9-7; Israr Ahmed bt Shoaib Ahmed 9-4, 9-7, 9-6(3-0).
