Governor’s Cup golf from today

LAHORE, Nov 1: As many as 192 golfers will feature in four different categories of the three-day 24th Governor’s Cup Amateur Golf which tees off at the Lahore Gymkhana course from Friday.

According to the break-up, 102 amateurs, 60 seniors, 20 veterans, and 10 ladies will be vying for top honours in their respective categories.

The prominent amateurs competing in the event are Adil Jahangir, Mohammad Safdar, Imran Ahmed, Danyall Jehangir, Murad A Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Mohammad Rehman, Tashfeen Ashraf, Sardar Murad Khan, Mohammad Waqas, Abubakar, Akbar Khan, Abdullah Sharif.

Amateurs having handicap 14 and below, ladies of 36, seniors (above 55) 18 and veterans (above 70) 18 are eligible to play in the tournament.

The course has undergone a lot of maintenance work for the important tournament. The fairways and the greens are giving a very fine look and the amateur participants are sure toenjoy playing on this course.
