BAHAWALPUR, Oct 30: Seven students were injured in a clash between two groups at Islamia University Bahawalpur’s Department of Engineering at Baghdadul Jadid Campus here on Tuesday.
Wajahat, Hasnain, Malik Abid, Azeem and three others were taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital. However, they were discharged after first-aid.
The police rushed to the scene and controlled the situation.
Both the groups have given applications for registration of a case against each other, and the IUB acting vice-chancellor has forwarded the applications to the district police officer for necessary action.
However, no case had been registered till the filing of this report. The incident triggered panic on the campus.

Tuesday underlined the need of effective role of civil society to help curb violence against women.
The Cholistan Development Council (CDC), a non-government organisation, arranged the seminar.
Speakers including Majeed Gill, Prof Mrs Muzamil Bhatti and Prof Saleem regretted that the government functionaries and NGOs had not discharged their duties towards the issue as such killings in the name of honour and other discriminatory actions against women were rife in society.
They stressed the need for creating awareness among the masses about honour-killing and traditions and customs specifically targeting women, including karo kari.
They demanded that the culprits involved in honour-killings should be given exemplary punishment.
They said feudalism and illiteracy were the root causes of such heinous crime, which could not be controlled without improving literacy and eradicating feudalism.
CDC President Farooq Ahmad Khan apprised the audience of the performance of his NGO in this connection.
ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The three-day anti-polio vaccination drive started here on Tuesday in which over 500,00 children will be administered the vaccine.
Revenue District Officer Dr Faisal Zahoor inaugurated the campaign by administering anti-polio drops to children at the Public Health Nursing School.
According to health officials, 1,195 teams, including 951 mobile teams, will perform the task.
In Cholistan, advance teams had been dispatched in this connection, they added.
