KARACHI, March 23: Reckless driving claimed two more lives in the city on Saturday.

A young motorcyclist died and his friend was injured when an oil tanker collided with their motorcycle on National Highway.

Police said Mohammed Asif, aged 20, and Mohammed Shahid, aged 25, residents of North Karachi, were on their way to Kalri Lake. When they reached near Adil Kanta on National Highway in Steel Town police limits, an oil tanker hit them. Both the young men were injured. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced Asif dead on arrival. Shahid was admitted to the hospital.

Police impounded the tanker (QAD-3114). However, its driver escaped leaving behind the tanker.

An unidentified man, in his early 50s, was run over by an Ilyas coach (PE-4447) near Mowach Mor in Saeedabad while walking across the main road. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy. It had been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification, police said.

Police impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver, Jamroze.
