KARACHI, Oct 29: The central information secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party, Sherry Rehman, on Monday slammed Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim for calling Benazir Bhutto “a curse to the nation”.

Talking to the media during a visit to various hospitals to inquire after the health of the victims of the Oct 18 carnage, Ms Rehman said that by making such irresponsible remarks, the chief minister had in fact insulted millions of womenfolk of the country.

She alleged that Dr Rahim had started a smear campaign against Ms Bhutto to obstruct her homecoming and he had started giving out threatening statements against the PPP leader much before her return.

The PPP leader said that Dr Rahim’s remarks reflected his mindset. She said that the removal of Ms Bhutto’s pictures and party flags from different parts of the city would not affect party’s mass following.

Meanwhile, the PPP claimed that 10 more PPP workers had been arrested from Kaloi, the hometown of Sindh chief minister.
