MUZAFFARGARH, Oct 28: There are many illegal toll plazas working at the entrance and exit points of the city.

It is learnt that a toll plaza near a level crossing and another near Tulhairy bypass are where five men each with sticks and barriers sit and they take Rs10 per van, bus or truck illegally. Hundred of vehicles pass this way and the earning money of each toll plaza is Rs5,000 to Rs8,000 a day.

Dawn correspondent visited one of the toll plazas where the team of TMA was taking illegal tax from each driver. When the correspondent took camera for picture two men of his team threatened him not to take picture and warned that “we are not afraid of police and TMO as they do not take any action because we give them their share for cooperation.”

TMO Fareed Khirani said this road was under the administration which had not re-issued any contract to any private men. He said it was all illegal and the TMA had nothing to do with it.
