RAWALPINDI, Oct 27: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Saturday handed down life imprisonment to a man and acquitted two others in a case of kidnap, rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl in Fatehjang last year.

ATC-2 Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot awarded life imprisonment to convict Mohammad Wajahat for kidnapping Sadia Bibi, a student of 4th class, raping and murdering her on Sept 26, 2006.

The judge acquitted accused Mohammad Usman and Mohammad Nadeem as they emerged innocent.

Meanwhile, hearing of the case of a UK national of Pakistani origin, Rashid Rauf, was adjourned till Nov 6. He also met his relatives and two daughters in the court. Mr Rauf is facing charges of terrorism.

Also, the ATC-1 judge ordered the arrest of a man present in the court room after his pre-arrest bail was cancelled by the court. Atif Siraj had got the bail in a case of creating law and order situation at Murree in July after the Lal Masjid operation.
