Loew contract extended

Published October 27, 2007

BERLIN, Oct 26: Joachim Loew has extended his contract as coach of the German national team until 2010.

“I’m very pleased that I’ll be able to continue with the team down this path,” Loew told the German Football Association website.

Loew, who stepped up to replace Juergen Klinsmann after Germany’s run to third place at the World Cup in 2006, has become increasingly popular and guided Germany to become the first team to qualify for Euro 2008.

His original contract ran until the end of next year’s tournament in Austria and Switzerland. His new deal will take him up to the World Cup in South Africa. –Reuters
