‘PO’ killed in encounter

SIALKOT, Oct 26: A proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with police near Baqarpur village, Motra, Daska tehsil, on Friday.

The Sialkot DPO told newsmen two armed men were looting passersby by setting up a picket when a police team reached there. On seeing the police, the robbers fled and took shelter in nearby fields and opened fired on policemen. When the police retaliated, one of the robbers later identified as Shabbir was killed and his accomplice, Zahid, arrested. The DPO claimed that both of the accused were wanted by police in more than two dozen cases of dacoity and theft. — Correspondent
