Case against former DIG

FAISALABAD, Oct 26: Tarkhani police have registered a case against former DIG Chaudhry Sajjad Ahmed and 30 others for killing a man in a fake encounter, police sources said on Friday.

District & Sessions Judge Muhammad Yousaf Sheikh ordered registration of a case against Ahmed and others after completion of an investigation he ordered on the petition of plaintiff Husnain Shah.

Shah submitted to the court that Tarkhani Station House Officer (SHO) Mehr Younis (now Thekariwala SHO) shoot his brother Saqlain Shah two years ago in a fake encounter on Ahmed’s orders. He said the encounter took place in Chak 208-RB, Tarkhani police precincts.

The court asked police official Mehr Shafqatullah to investigate the case, who held Ahmed, Younis, police detective Muhammad Hussain and others responsible for the encounter and recommended action against them.

Samundri Circle DSP Mehr Khuda Yar told Dawn that a case had been registered against the accused with Tarkhani police, but no arrest had been made so far.
