KARACHI, Oct 26: Jamaat-i-Islami has termed the code of conduct of the Election Commission as a bundle of lies, saying that it has been prepared to benefit the rulers.

Commenting on the code of conduct, Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi chapter’s chief Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui said that if oppression perpetrated on people could not be talked about during the election campaign, where such serious issues could be raised.

The JI leader said the chief election commissioner, who continued to demonstrate partiality, had become controversial. He said a neutral election commission was essential for transparent and fair elections and demanded that a code of conduct acceptable to all political parties be prepared.

He said it was beyond his comprehension how key issues like imbalanced foreign policy, interference of the army in politics, pressure on the judiciary etc could be raised during the election campaign.
