ISLAMABAD, Oct 25: The updated computerised electoral rolls will be published on Friday amid criticism by civil society organisations and political parties that the lists contain millions of unverified entries.

Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad said that the electoral rolls would be displayed in the offices of registration officers and assistant election commissioners in district headquarter. He said provincial election commissioners and registration officers had been advised to finalise arrangements for the publication of the rolls.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has again asked Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to provide computerised voters’ list to political parties so that these could be analysed and corrected.

The demand was made by members of the PPP Election Monitoring Cell, member of the cell Nazir Dhoki said here on Thursday.

The party also demanded that every voter should be provided the computerised national identity card free of cost. The Election Commission should also take notice of the spending of million of rupees from the national exchequer by the chief minister of Punjab on the election campaign.

Mr Dhoki said after the announcement of the election schedule, the cell would hold seminars for office-bearers and workers to apprise them of techniques for stopping poll rigging. All polling agents would be trained in district headquarters, he added.
