KARACHI: Sewage problem

Published October 26, 2007

KARACHI, Oct 25: Due to the collapse of the sewerage system in the old city areas, people are facing immense difficulties as a number of streets and roads in these localities are flooded with sewage.

The situation aggravated on Wednesday after a 72-inch-dia sewer, in the middle of the PIDC House section of Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, caved in. Apart from overflowing sewage, the closure of a portion of Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road to vehicular traffic is creating immense difficulties to the motorists.

Flow of traffic was also badly affected due to stagnant sewage at different portions of M. A. Jinnah Road and Shahrah-i-Liaquat, Tibet Centre, Mohtandas, Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road, Daudpota Road, Haquani Chowk, Mithadar, Kharadar and Mohammad Bin Qasim Road.—Staff Reporter
