LAHORE, Oct 24: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Arif Butt on Wednesday inaugurated a digital library at the Department of Islamic Studies at Shaikh Zayed Islamic Centre (SZIC).
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said there was a lot of potential in local research, but the need was to promote it at the international level so that it could benefit people at the mass level.
He said the PU was the first university that had digitalised its library and gave its students access to international level research. He hoped this would help improve the standards of research in the university.
Prof Butt along with Faculty of Islamic Studies dean Prof Dr Samar Fatima, Islamic Studies department chairman Dr Shabbir Ahmad Mansoori and teachers visited all sections of the library.
BA PAPER: The PU on Wednesday organised English-A paper for the BA/BSc supplementary examinations.
PU Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt said only one unfair means case (UMC) was registered against a female candidate at university’s cluster examination centre on Wahdat Road. He said no other UMC case was reported from any of its 131 centres in Punjab.
SYMPOSIUM: Prof Arif Butt says the concept of science is not limited in laboratories alone, but it must be used for the welfare of human beings.
He stressed for organising such symposiums from time to time so that researchers could be benefited.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the first two-day symposium organised by university’s Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics on “Genomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics: Recent trends in Biotechnology”.
Earlier, MMG department chairperson Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain spoke about the purposes of the symposium and performance of the department. Prof Butt distributed certificates among the participants of the symposium.
