KARACHI, Oct 24: Condemning the Oct 18 midnight carnage at Karsaz, a gloomy City Council on Wednesday recalled the services of Rukhsana Faisal Baloch for her commitment to the welfare of poor rural people.

Paying tributes to the Awam Dost women councillor, members on both sides of the divide described her as a brave and principled lady who had devoted her life to the services of the poor. The emergency council session was called by City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil to condole the death of the councillor and other victims of the tragic incident.

Both the treasury and opposition members expressed their deep anguish over the terrorist attack and called for a through probe into the ghastly act.

Ms Jail paying tribute to Rukhsana said although she had always maintained simplicity reflecting the village woman, she had always played an active role in the council and in a very short span of time she had emerged as a leader.
