PESHAWAR, Oct 21: NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai has said that small residential township schemes on the pattern of Hayatabad will be developed in each agency headquarters in Fata.Talking to journalists from Fata at the Governor’s House on Saturday, he said that press clubs were also being developed in agency headquarters as well as in all the Frontier Region. The work on press clubs in certain areas was already in progress, he added. Nasir Mohmand led the delegation.

Responding to various points raised by the journalists, the governor said promotion of education, especially quality education in Fata, was the top priority of the government and every effort would be made to materialise the initiative.Apart from the projects, being implemented under the regular annual development programme, he said, special initiatives were also underway to ensure availability of quality educational facilities to youth in Fata. He said the quota of reserved seats for students from Fata in the medical colleges of the province had been enhanced from 95 to 125.Similarly, he said, out of 1,000 seats, to be available in the new Islamia College, being set up in Swabi on the pattern of the Islamia College, Peshawar, 33 per cent seats would be reserved for Fata students.

He said that 50 per cent seats in the new campus of the Institute of Management Sciences, being set up at Shahkas, would be reserved for students from Fata. Talking about the Fata University, he said, the main campus of the university would be based in Peshawar while its satellite campuses would be developed at suitable places in all the agencies.

He said that the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation had decided to set up a girls’ degree college in Fata and land for which had already been acquired.He said the government would provide all help to journalists to ensure that they performed their duties with more dedication. In this connection, he mentioned the recently held ceremony of the Tribal Union of Journalists.
