Roddick joins field in China

MADRID, Oct 20: Andy Roddick was on Friday confirmed as the latest to join the eight-man field for November’s Masters Cup in Shanghai.

The ATP said the American world number five had qualified as he could not be dropped lower than eighth by any players standing behind him in the points’ race.

Roddick has not played since Davis Cup in September, flying to Bangkok last month but withdrawing with a foot injury. He then withdrew from this week’s Madrid Masters with a knee problem.—AFP
