KHAIRPUR, Oct 18: Fire broke out in the Arms Room of Pir Jo Goth Police Station, on Thursday, gutting arms and bullets.

According to reports fire broke out at about 10am destroying 10 official G3 rifles, semi-rifles and bullets along with two SMGs, one double-barrel gun, seven single-barrel guns and one pistol of case property.

It further said the official record was also burnt while walls and roof of the room and other portions of the building got damaged.

Police and people of the area controlled the fire. Bomb disposal team was called from Sukkur who after examining the place of incident ruled out the possibility of a bomb. The fire could have been due to some old crackers kept in the room, they said.

The DPO Khairpur visited police station Pir Jo Goth and got details about the incident.

However, no case was registered till the filing of this report.

Brothers kidnapped: Two Hindu traders were kidnapped from the Kumb-Babar Road in Kotdiji taluka on Thursday.

The reports said two brothers Nanak Ram alias Mamoon Mal and Kanwar Ram were on their way from Babar Wada on a motorbike to Kumb morning when four armed persons interrupted and kidnapped them in a car.

The kidnapped brothers were fertilizers traders of Kumb.

A complete strike was observed in Kumb, while large number of people blocked the Kumb-Nawabshah road to protest the kidnapping.

Protesters raised slogans against rising crime and demanded immediate release of the two brothers.
