MIRPURKHAS, Oct 18: Commuters faced hardships as 90 per cent of transport was missing from different routes in the defunct Mirpurkhas division, while taxis drivers were charging high fares here on Thursday.
Reports said that that a large number of public transport vehicles including buses, coaches and wagons were booked by the People’s Party people to participate in the welcome of Ms Bhutto.
People experienced immense trouble as most of the transports were off the roads.
Only a few vehicles were plying on Mithi, Umerkot, Sanghar, Khipro and Hyderabad routes, which were over crowded as people climbed over the roofs of the vehicles.
Five injured: Five persons including a woman were seriously injured in an armed attack by their rival group at village Khakhan in union council Kaplore in jurisdiction of Khokhropar police station.
The complainant, Gokal, told journalists at Umerkot on Wednesday that after an exchange of hot words between Ghazi Samejo and Bhugro Bheel the armed clash broke out following damage to the standing crops of Bhugro Bheel.
The armed men of Samejo community resorted to aerial firing and also used axes as result of which five persons of Bheel community, identified as Bhugro, Maliji, Mohan, Talho and Ms Kaman, sustained bullet and stick injuries, who were later rushed to the Umerkot Hospital.
Khokhropar police registered a case under the Sections 324, 147, 148, 149, 337(A-I), 337 (F-I), 337 H-II against the accused, Ghazi, Mohram, Sattar, Gulu, Nihal and Qabool.
No arrest was made till the filing of this report.
