ISLAMABAD, Oct 16: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz exchanged eid greetings with prominent personalities including parliamentarians, diplomats, senior civil and military officials here at the PM’s House.

The prime minister offered Eidul Fitr prayers at Faisal Mosque along with a large number of faithful from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Federal ministers, ministers of state, parliamentarians, civil and military officials and the Islamabad-based diplomats of the Muslim countries also offered prayers at the mosque.

After prayers, the prime minister mixed with the people and exchanged Eid greetings with them. Special prayers were offered for peace, security and progress of the country, solidarity and welfare of the Ummah and liberation of the occupied territories including Jammu and Kashmir.

In his sermon, the Imam of the mosque exhorted faithful to strictly adhere to Islamic way of life and promote Islamic norms and values.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmad and Vice Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani called on the prime minister and extended Eid greetings to him.

The prime minister also met diplomats, federal and state ministers, parliamentarians, senior civil and military officials and prominent personalities from different walks of life, leaders and workers of Pakistan Muslim League and other allied parties and exchanged Eid greetings.

The prime minister also organised a reception for the guests.

Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Aziz called upon the international community to work together in promoting interfaith harmony to effectively tackle the challenges facing the world.—APP
