KARACHI, Oct 16: Another application filed by the Pakistan People’s Party for permission to drop leaflets and confetti through a chartered aircraft across the city has been sent to police for security clearance.

The PPP has chartered a Cessna-type aircraft from the Schon Air to airdrop leaflets and confetti in all localities of the city on Oct 18 to celebrate the homecoming of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

In this regard, the party approached the Civil Aviation Authority but under the rules no such permission could be issued without permission from the local government.

Karachi Division president of the PPP Rashid Rabbani on Tuesday approached the Karachi district coordination officer. However, the city government sent the application to the capital city police for necessary security clearance.

Earlier, on Oct 11 the PPP filed an application for permission to hold a public meeting outside the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and to set up roadside camps to welcome Ms Bhutto.
