Three killed on road

GUJRANWALA, Oct 13: At least three people were killed and more than 25 injured when a speeding bus rammed into a roadside tree on Sheikhupura Road on Friday night.

The bus, which was going from Gujranwala to Sheikhupura, suffered the accident near Hardokileywala village and overturned. As a result, passengers Yunas, Ijaz and Mubasher died at the scene and more than 25 were injured. The injured were taken to various hospitals in Sheikhupura.

The Highway Patrol Police of Artali Vorkan reached the scene an hour after the accident.

POLICE ON ‘EIDI’ SPREE: Traffic and highway patrol police officials continued minting money from drivers here on Saturday without any fear because their bosses had already gone on Eid holidays.

The police officials were stopping vehicles on GT Road and letting them go after getting Rs100 ‘Eidi’ from each. Transporters were also bribing traffic police to violate traffic laws and overcharge commuters.
