Ahmed Zeeshan shines with fine 56

KARACHI, Oct 12: Tapal Cricket Club clinched the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan cricket tournament, beating M. Tex XI by five wickets in an exciting final at the AKG Ground on Thursday.

Wicket-keeper/batsman Ahmed Zeeshan Malik (56) played a key role in his team’s triumph.

Batting first, M. Tex XI posted 138-7 in their 20 overs despite a quick-fire 57 by Asif Hussain with four sixes and a four.

Tapal CC, in reply, reached the target for the loss of five wickets in 19.4 overs.

Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal finished with three wickets for 16 and won the best bowler’s award with nine wickets in the tournament.

Shahbaz Butt of losing side, scoring 147 runs and taking seven wickets was adjudged man of the tournament. Saeed Bin Nasir was declared the best batsman and Tauseef Khan best bowler of the tournament.

Tapal CC skipper Ahmed Zeeshan Malik was given the winners’ trophy with the prize money of Rs50,000 while M. Tex XI’s skipper Asif Hussain received the runners-up trophy and a prize purse of Rs25,000.
