KARACHI, March 21: Participants to the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) received orders worth about $700,000 from Bangladeshi buyers. In addition, the Pakistani exhibitors signed MoUs worth nearly $5.3 million, EPB sources said on Thursday.

The DITF which was held from Jan 12 to Feb 15, 2002, witnessed remarkable achievement made by Pakistani exhibitors. There were only two country pavilions, that of Pakistan and Iran, others mostly had their local representatives.

According to details received by the EPB from the participants to the DITF M/s Iqbengcop, the manufacturers of Jawa Motorcycle, were able to secure orders worth nearly $300,000, besides signing of MoUs for the supply of Jawa three-wheeler, model Jaw-110cc and model 125cc, 4-stroke engines.

M/s Ali Corporation booked orders worth $130,000 for the supply of agricultural implements, besides singing MoUs worth nearly $4 million, while Laiq Co (export) and B.P. Industries got orders worth $20,000 and $7,250 respectively. B.P Industries also signed an MoU worth $40,000.

M/s Welco GAs Industries, Gujranwala were able to secure orders worth $180,000 for the supply of Bar-B-Que steamers while Pearl Food and Pakistan Cycle Industries were able to get orders worth $24,000 and $25,000 for the supply of cycles, cycle parts and accessories and confectionery items respectively.

In all 30 reputable companies from Pakistan displayed a variety of products like electrical appliances, plastic and plastic related products, aluminium utensils, tractors, agricultural implements, motorcycles, three-wheeler, scooters, food products, confectionery items, spices, fans, oil filters, textiles, garments, fabrics, bedsheets etc.
