KARACHI : Body found in North Karachi

KARACHI, Oct 9: The body of an unidentified young man was found in a large plastic container in North Karachi on Tuesday morning, police and Edhi sources said.

The Gabol Town police said the body, wrapped in a ralli (a traditional Sindhi bedspread), was taken to hospital from Shafique More in an Edhi ambulance.

Abbasi Shaheed Hospital sources said the body bore no outward marks of torture. They said the post-mortem report had been was reserved till the chemical examination report came in.

Edhi sources said the body was later kept at the morgue at Sohrab Goth as the deceased remained unidentified.Police said they were making efforts to identify the victim.

Robberies

A gang of robbers forced their way into the house of Shamim Ahmed in Baloch Colony in the early hours of Tuesday.

They held the inmates hostage at gunpoint and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables. The robbers opened fire on Mr Ahmed and his 22-year-old son, Amir, leaving them injured, before they left the place. Police said the man and his son were injured in their struggle with the intruders.

Vehicles taken away

As many as 63 vehicles, including 44 motorbikes, and 91 cellphones were taken away in different areas on Monday. Another 25 vehicles and 36 mobile phones were either stolen or snatched till Tuesday evening.

Official figures show that six cars, seven motorcycles and 38 cellphones were snatched at gunpoint on Monday. Another 15 cars, 37 bikes and 49 cellphones were stolen.

Later by Tuesday evening, bandits snatched another three motorcycles and 18 mobile phones at gunpoint.
