MANSEHRA, Oct 21: Over 5,000 volunteers in Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan and tribal belt of Kala Dhaka have registered their names to take part in the ground war in Afghanistan, while thousands of others have donated around Rs2 million to support the taliban soldiers, a survey revealed.
According to the survey conducted by this scribe, the people of Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram and Kala Dhaka were enraged and annoyed over the airstrikes on Afghanistan by the US-led forces.
It is learnt that about 5,000 young men belonging to these areas have registered their names with the JUI, JI and Afghan Defence Council to take part in the ground war in Afghanistan.
The registration process is still going on and people are registering their names through prayer leaders and Jihadi outfits in their respective districts. Over 3,000 people/ volunteers had already gone to Afghanistan, along with DPs who lived in these areas, to fight against the US-led forces.
It is also said that about Rs2 million had been raised through the JUI and JI donation collection campaign.
Deputy information secretary JUI, NWFP, Qari Habib-ur-Rehman, while refusing to disclose the exact amount collected, said that the people of these areas were cooperating with religious parties and had extended all possible help to the people of Afghanistan.
