Bandits rob family of valuables

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 5: Three robbers looted a family travelling in a car from Gojra to Chichawatni in Kamalia Sadar police precincts on Thursday night.

Three motorcyclists intercepted Mansha of Chak 180-GB and his family members, including women, near Bhangoo Morr, snatched cash, gold jewellery, cell phones and other valuables worth Rs100,000 and fled. The police started investigation.

ADMISSIONS: The rate of admissions to government schools remained 97 per cent which was a record in the recent past.

Education EDO Malik Bashir Awan said while addressing a function arranged by the National Commission for Human Development and Education Department at the Government Model High School on Friday to mark the Teachers’ Day.

District Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar said it was the ruling PML which gave due status to teachers.

QUITS PARTY OFFICE: Chaudhry Saeed Akhtar, secretary-general of the local chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has announced quitting his party office and active politics.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said he was quitting politics because of personal reasons and business engagements. He, however, added he would remain an ordinary PPP worker.

A source said Mr Akhtar was aspirant of PPP ticket for a provincial assembly seat from Rajana, but some influential leaders were opposing him, so he decided to call it a day much ahead of the general elections.
