MIRPURKHAS, Oct 5: Around 40 bonded peasants were released from alleged private jails of two landlords in district Umerkot under the directives of district and sessions court here on Thursday.
The action was taken on the petition filed by two peasants viz; Mithu Bheel and Jagu Bheel through their counsel Bhangwan Das Bheel, in which they had accused two landlords namely Din Mohammad Mangrio and Haji Rehmatullah Maher for not paying them their due share of crops even during their illness, and the landlords were forcing the labours to work without any compensation.
They further alleged that their family members were in wrongful confinement of the landlords. The DJ directed the SHO Umerkot Ghazi Rajar and SHO Dhoronaro Ayub Kumbhar to get the bonded labours released and also issued their production orders.
The police conducted raids and got bout 40 peasants released including women and children from alleged illegal confinement of the two landlords.
Those released from the alleged private jails included: Sharifan, Hamoon, Aleema, Jagisha, Dhoori, Tulsi, Jagio, Ramesh, Champa, Utmoon, Dhanoo, Lachhman, Girdhari, Bhanji, Tamachi, Hotoo, Dharo, Laloo, Motan, Niamat, Seeta, Samdi, Lekhoo, Dholo, Rano, Jamni, Weero, Rawal, Dev Chand, Bhagchand, Raichand, Khanoo, Noor Chand, Bhagan, Mehal, Parsan, Ajoo, Rajesh, Guddi and Raval.
Police produced them before the district and sessions judge Umerkot who were freed on the directive of the court.
Our Hyderabad bureau adds: The haris rescued from the private jails of Din Mohammad Mangrio and Haji Rehmatullah Maher, under the orders of the District and Sessions Judge Umerkot, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Friday.
Rawal Oad, Bhagi Chand, Jagu Bheel and others demanded legal action against their tormentors and payment of their share in crops.
Examinations: Deputy Controller of Examination, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas, has notified on Friday that supplementary examination of intermediate classes 2007, will be held from November 13 to 26.
CASES: The taluka police have registered different cases against five alleged bandits arrested at Mirwah check post on Thursday.
The cases pertained to possession of illegal arms and creating hurdles in government duty.
The bandits were identified as Kashif Abbasi, Jan Mohammad, Manesh, Sardaro Soomro and Shahzad, who were arrested while escaping after committing a dacoity at the house of a jeweller in Digri town.
