GUJRANWALA, March 19: The District Bar Association, Gujranwala, will take out processions on Thursday to protest against the carnage of Muslims in India.
This was stated by DBA president Mian Maqsood Ahmad in a press statement issued here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, lawyers at a meeting strongly condemned the Indian government’s repressive policy against its Muslim population. They urged the world powers to press Indian government to provide protection to Muslims besides taking stern action against Hindu terrorists.
They said that Indian government has failed to stop Hindu extremists of their acts of vandalism against Muslims in spite of its tall claim of secularism.
AUCTION: The banking court No 1, Gujranwala, ordered on Tuesday auction of the properties of two defaulters.
According to details, Sheikh Muhammad Saeed Iqbal and Muhammad Naveed Iqbal of Sialkot borrowed Rs8.2 million from Habib Bank’s Sialkot branch some few years ago but did not return the money.
The court ordered that the loan amount should be recovered through the auction of their properties in Sialkot.
BAIL PLEAS REJECTED: The additional district and sessions judge rejected on Tuesday the bail application of an accused in a rape case.
According to the prosecution, Muhammad Mushtaq of Peoples Colony raped a woman after overpowering her in her house in the absence of her husband some days ago.
The judge also rejected the bail application of an accused involved in electricity theft.
The private assistant of former commissioner, Mahmood Ahmad, was booked by police on charge of stealing electricity in Civil Line on the report of Gepco sub-divisional officer.
Police arrested both the accused and sent them to jail.
ACQUITTED: The district and sessions judge acquitted on Tuesday an accused involved in double murder case.
According to the prosecution, Dawood Ahmad of Wahando killed Nasim Bibi and Kishwar Bibi over an agricultural land dispute in 1999. Later, the heirs of the women pardoned him.
