HYDERABAD, Oct 1: There was complete boycott of courts across Sindh on the call of Pakistan Bar Council to condemn brutality on lawyers and journalists in Islamabad by police on Saturday.
In Hyderabad the lawyers boycotted courts and said that their struggle would continue till the ouster of military dictator.
PML-N also condemned attack on journalists and lawyers at a protest meeting. In Sanghar, lawyers boycotted court proceedings, wore black armbands and hoisted black flags atop bar offices. DBA leaders said that whenever the dictators become weak, they try to gag the press.
In Thatta, DBA members boycotted court proceedings and took out a procession in Makli.
They raised slogans “go Musharraf go” and “Lathi goli ki Sarkar - nahin chalegi, nahin chalegi”.
In Nawabshah, DBA members boycotted court proceedings and took out a rally. DBA leaders termed the police action a shameful act and demanded immediate action against culprits responsible for the incident.
Jamaat-i-Islami Nawabshah chapter, also condemned the incident and said that APDM would resign from the assemblies after which there would be no legal or moral option left for the general to get himself re-elected as president.
In Badin, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qambar and their adjoining towns lawyers observed strike and boycotted court proceedings.
They demanded immediate removal of IG police Islamabad and Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah and other officials involved in the incident. They vowed to continue their struggle till restoration of democracy in the country.
