KARAK, Oct 1: The Terri Gas Action Committee has set the Oct 20 deadline for the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) to resume work on a gas supply project in the area, failing which people would hold protest demonstrations.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Terri union council office on Monday, participants expressed concern over the stoppage of work on the project.
They said that natural gas should be supplied to all areas of the Terri union council, including Shankai, Rustam Banda, Barbara, Halala and Easak Khumari.
Calling for payment of compensation to landowners according to the market value,
they said that the company concerned had yet to pay the amount to the affected people.
The meeting regretted that the company had failed to fulfil its commitment to people of the area from where gas and oil were being tapped.
It said the company had failed to construct an examination hall in the Terri High School and install an X-ray plant in the Terri hospital.
