MARDAN, Sept 28: Members of the District Bar Association, Mardan, while filling ditches and cavities on various roads of the city on a self-help basis on Friday, condemned the district and tehsil nazims of Mardan and accused them of corruption.

In a rather unique way to protest against the district governments, lawyers came out with push carts and started filling ditches and cavities on the roads. They visited various parts of the city and filled ditches on a self-help basis. The lawyers said the nazims used costly vehicles and lived like lords but they had no time to visit the areas under their control in order to experience the problems faced by the masses.

They pointed out that the people, despite paying huge taxes, suffered because of broken roads, streets lights, dirt, traffic congestion and encroachment. They declared ‘war against the district government’ and disclosed that they would hold demonstrations in the city against the nazims.

KILLED: A woman was shot dead when her husband — identified as Ibrar Hussain — was loading a pistol in his home.

The father of the accused Mir Fazal Khan, while lodging an FIR at the Choora police station, claimed that his daughter-in-law was killed accidentally when the pistol his son was loading went off. He denied that she was killed intentionally.
