Postal delivery of Eid cards

Published September 28, 2007

LAHORE, Sept 27: Pakistan Postal Services Corporation chairman Raja Muhammad Arshad Khan on Thursday directed all the Post Masters General across the country to make special arrangements for prompt delivery of greeting cards to people even during Eid holidays.

Talking to this news agency, he said the officials had been directed to ensure quick delivery of mails to the people at their doorsteps, especially during Ramazan. He said special staff would be posted at all the stations for prompt sorting of Eid cards, in addition to affixing additional (temporary) letterboxes to absorb the heavy volume of inland and overseas mail.

It would be fully ensured, he said, that all express money orders were being paid the same day at their respective destinations. It was for the first time in the history of the country that the inland mail was being delivered next day and the local mail the same day, he claimed.

He said departmental “test cards” were mailed regularly in the major cities to check the speed and timely delivery of mail in the country. He said if test cards were not received within specified time, action was taken against the negligent officials.—APP
