KARACHI : Robbers kill man on resistance

KARACHI, Sept 27: A young man was shot dead by bandits during a holdup in Orangi Town on Thursday.Police said the suspects arrived at a travel agency office and started looting the agency’s employees and clients. As one of the occupants of the shop resisted the robbery attempt, the bandits opened fire on him, killing Abdul Ghani, 50, and wounding another man.

Police took the victim’s body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

Estate agent

The body of a real estate agent who was kidnapped on Sept 23 was found in Korangi on Wednesday night, police said.

A duty officer of the Korangi Industrial Area police station said the victim did not have any apparent sign of torture or any gunshot wound on his body, which was found in a nullah at Korangi No 4, close to the venue of the Monday bazaar.

Police said Syed Mohsin Ali, an estate agent and resident of B-1 Area, Liaquatabad, had reportedly left his home on the evening on Sept 23. Police said Mohsin Ali ran his real estate business in DHA Phase I.

His brother lodged an FIR at the Super Market police station reporting his kidnapping by unknown persons. Police said Mr Ali was missing along with his vehicle (AFS-280), adding that his vehicle was still untraced.

Outlaw held

A suspected associate of Rehman Dakait was arrested by police on late Wednesday night in Lyari following a shootout.

Station house officer of Baghdadi Sajjad Haider said Bashir Baloch, alias Shera, had demanded Rs5 million as protection money from a betel nut trader, Sardar Memon.

However, the deal was struck at Rs300,000 and Aath Chowk was selected as the place of the delivery.

“We had posted our men in civvies there. As Bashir, along with his accomplices Jabbar and Mansoor, came to collect the cash, police moved in and an exchange of fire ensued,” the SHO said.

Police arrested Bashir, however, his two accomplices escaped. An AK-47 rifle and a pistol were seized from Shera, police said.

Heinous act

Police on Thursday found the torso of an unidentified person at a deserted place in the Ibrahim Hydri police limits.

Hospital sources said the victim’s head, arms and legs were chopped off by unknown persons. The police added that only the abdomen was found as the other limbs might have been thrown at different places.

They searched the surroundings for the remaining parts, but to no avail, hospital sources quoted police as having said.

In another incident, the decomposed body of a middle-aged man was found in the Manghopir police limits.

Police said the body was dumped at a deserted place close to the Northern Bypass.

In the Sohrab Goth area, unknown persons killed a young man near Al Asif Square in what seems to be personal enmity.

Police said Zahid Khan, 22, was shot from a close range by unknown persons. They sent the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
