GUJRAT, Sept 26: Four people were shot dead and two others were injured critically by their rivals over an old enmity outside Kharian sessions court on Wednesday morning. Reports said one Mian Shahid of Chokar along with some of his friends had come out of the court when they were sprayed with bullets allegedly by their rivals.

As a result, Ashraf of Jaura, Mian Taskeen of Khambi, Jarar Haider Shah of Saprah and Malik Usman of Bakhshupura died instantly while Shahid and Riasat of Chand received critical injuries. The injured were taken to Kharian CMH where Shahid was said to be in a precarious condition. Saddar SHO told Dawn over telephone that Shahid was the main target of attackers. He said police had not received any application by the victims’ families for registration of case. Two brothers of Shahid were nominated in the murder of a brick kiln owner, Mian Khaliq, some months ago, police said.
