The two men had some political differences and the convict had opened fire on Nasir Shah in the limits of the Shah Faisal police station. Nasir Shah subsequently died from his wounds.

An unidentified co-accused is still at large.

The police had registered a case (FIR No 30/02) under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on Naseer Alam. In case of non-payment, he will have to undergo an additional two years of imprisonment.
