KOHAT, Sept 25: The Kohat-Rawalpindi road, blocked by the police at Mankor checkpost near the Khushal Garh bridge on Monday night to stop activists of opposition parties from going to Islamabad, was opened for traffic on Tuesday.

Traders and businessmen were the worst sufferers as they could not receive goods from Rawalpindi and other cities of Punjab because of the blockade.

Government and private servants could not reach their workplaces in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on time.

This was the second time this month that the road was blocked for such a long period. Police had also blocked the road on the eve of the Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s attempt to return home.

Many businessmen from Kohat and other southern districts of the NWFP had remained trapped in Rawalpindi due to the roadblock.
