HYDERABAD, Sept 24: The PPP is striving for the restoration of democracy through fair, free and impartial elections, said the President Qaim Ali Shah while speaking at a workers’ meeting at Jamshoro, on Sunday.

He said it’s an important feature of our party’s manifesto to provide jobs, alleviate poverty and stabilise prices for the relief of common men.

Rulers boast of having $18 billion foreign exchange yet were planning to terminate workers, he said and added the government and its coalition partners were fighting among themselves for the post of chowkidars and Naib Qasids while in Ms Benazir Bhutto’s reign jobs were provided without discrimination.

He alleged the government in connivance with the Election Commision had in previous general elections committed record rigging as even the European Union and international human rights organisations and other international organisations endorsed the reports.

He said a large number of people will welcome Ms Benazir Bhutto on her return to Pakistan on October 18 while those who entered corridors of power through back door will find no place to hide.

MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur of Jamshoro district said a large number of people will welcome their leader on her arrival at Karachi. He said the government in its eight years’ rule deprived the people of basic facilities including water and electricity and added that Karachi which once was termed the city of lights had been plunged into darkness.

He said some politicians of the APDM who registered false cases against Ms Benazir Bhutto were trying to create hurdles in her return.

Others who spoke included Sindh Council Member of the party Dr Sikandar Ali Shoro, Youth Organisation President Sindh Aajiz Dhamrah, MPA Dr Daya Ram, Dr Mohan Lal, Ms Hina Dastagir and others.
