KARACHI, Sept 24: The Labour Party Pakistan expressing concern over the arrest of politicians termed it an anti-democracy movement of the government.

In a statement issued on Monday, LPP General-Secretary Comrade Abdul Salam said the party would stage a protest demonstration against the government polices at the Karachi Press Club on Sept 26. The party also announced its complete support to the lawyers’ movement against the presidential election of Gen Musharraf.

He said the days of the rulers were numbered and that was why they had started harassing politicians. He also condemned the killing of lawyers and expressed hope that the sacrifices rendered by pro-democracy lawyers and politicians would not go waste.

Comrade Salam demanded release of politicians, arrest of lawyers’ murderers and an end to atrocities against lawyers.
