LAHORE, Sept 22: An interesting contest between class five sprinters that has lit up the 4th Lahore Winter Meetings, reaches a fitting climax at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The star chestnut gelding Perfect Promise, who has won in three of the four outings this season, is to take on bay gelding Volcano and the filly Richy Dancer, in the Mohammad Tughlaq Cup to be gone over 1200 metres.

Perfect Promise had opened his new campaign with an emphatic win on July 1st, following it with another on Aug 5. He was beaten in the Independence Cup to run off the board on Aug 12 but rallied to win the Pattoki Plate, a week later. He is in for an epic tussle with Volcano and Richy Dancer, who have one victory each to their credit in the same class earlier.

Perfect Promise has shown his ability in the sort of field he is meeting but this time under slightly different handicaps. If all skills are brought in to play by the rider he should win again. This will be the fifth race of the day.

Three-year-old dark-bay colt, Gulf Line, who has to his credit two facile victories in a row will be on the trot to complete a hat-trick of victories lining up in the Mohammad Tughlaq Plate over 1,200 metres.

The dark-bay colt from Mansai out-of-Romany Times, Gulf Line, was highly impressive registering an easy win over Hamza Prince in a class five division second handicap race over a fortnight back. His close rivals could be Stride To Moment and Royal Victory, who has considerably been demoted in weight-scales. This will be the 4th race in the racing order.

The Minchin Abad Plate, a class IV division 11 and III combined to be contested over 1,300 metres, has eight contenders. Of them Princess Of Gujrat, Lovely Gate and Discovery are on chance. The low-placed in weight-scales, the filly Discovery on form enjoys an edge over the others. Princess Of Gujrat, who ran a good second on July 15 is a fine pedigreed filly but contesting after a nine week’s gap. She is the progeny of Groom Dancer out-of-Champagne Party. This will be the sixth race in racing order.

Bone Crusher, Malika, Dogar Gift and Leader’s wing attract attention in the first race over 1,000 metres. They should finish in the same order.

Weldon Shogun, who won a good race on his last outing, should make it two in a row in the second race. Armida, Dream Land and Blu’s Wendy should fight for the frame.

Shah Rani, Sohna Billoo and Love Minister look good in the third race. On recent form, the main contest should be between Shah Rani and Sohna Billoo.

Black Narsissus, Dillagi and Sohna are prominent by their recent performances in the line up for the seventh and last race. They should fight it out in the same order.

In a card of seven, four races will be gone over 1,000 metres, two over 1,200 metres and one over 1,300 metres. The first race will be held at 1:00pm.
