HYDERABAD, March 18: A large number of villagers, including women, residents of Gul Mohammad Parhiar goth, Hussainabad, Giddu Bandar deh, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday against the excesses of some influential persons of the Mir family.

The president of the Ittihad Committee, Mohammad Anwar Parhiar, told newsmen that since long the Mirs had forcibly occupied 703 acres of their land for which they had been fighting a legal battle.

He said that the Mirs were now trying to eject them from the remaining land and had unleashed a reign of terror against the Parhiar community.

He said that many false cases had been registered against the Parhiars over the years in which they had been acquitted.

The villagers appealed to the authorities to restore their ancestral land to them and to protect them against the alleged excesses of the Mirs.
